Queers in Space is a forum for Brussels’ queer communities to share their opinions, needs, and aspirations regarding what the city could become in the future. Through its social media presence, the platform raises questions and sparks conversation, while organizing creative and reflective workshops. Its ultimate goal is to convey the proposed solutions both online and to local authorities.
My approach was rooted in a contextual exploration of the Brussels urban space, transforming everyday elements into sensitive graphic symbols. I developed a modular system of shapes inspired by the traditional ceramic floor tiles found throughout Brussels. This graphic reinterpretation of architectural heritage establishes an immediate, familiar connection with the local territory.
To counter this modular structure, I chose to introduce freer, chalk-drawn shapes. This contrast evokes urban hacking and citizen occupation, giving the visual identity a deeply human and resolently alive dimension.
